Synopsis

814 promises to be another eventful season, but not, this author believes, for Anthony Bridgerton, London's most elusive bachelor, who has shown no indication that he plans to marry.

And in truth, why should he? When it comes to playing the consummate rake, nobody does it better...

—Lady Whistledown's Society Papers, April 1814

But this time, the gossip columnists have it wrong. Anthony Bridgerton hasn't just decided to marry—he's even chosen a wife! The only obstacle is his intended older sister, Kate Sheffield—the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom. The spirited schemer is driving Anthony mad with her determination to stop the betrothal, but when he closes his eyes at night, Kate is the woman haunting his increasingly erotic dreams...

Contrary to popular belief, Kate is quite sure that reformed rakes do not make the best husbands—and Anthony Bridgerton is the most wicked rogue of them all. Kate is determined to protect her sister—but she fears her own heart is vulnerable. And when Anthony's lips touch hers, she's suddenly afraid she might not be able to resist the reprehensible rake herself…

"There is nothing like a competitive situation to bring out the worst in a man ... or the best in a woman."

- Lady Whistledown, The Viscount Who Loved Me, Julia Quinn.

Review

Of the four books that I have read in this saga, this book is the one that I have liked the most so far. Unpopular opinion Dreamers, I know, yet I couldn't stop laughing at this book. Dreamers I swore, that this book is full of accidents and situations that can be misinterpreted that I could not stop laughing with each one.

In fact, even though I laughed at first, my next thought was "really? Does this bullshit start everything?" Which one does not think about every day.

Another reason I liked this book was the couple. I know I don't usually say this, because I'm practically anti-love, but I fell in love with this couple, or at least the way Julia Quinn made it somehow realistically.

Despite the fact that this book has the "enemies to lovers" cliche, which is one of the most hated cliches by readers, the way in which Julia Quinn developed this couple is exquisite. The chemistry between Kate and Anthony is wonderful, the dialogues are fluid and most importantly, I didn't feel at all that the couple was forced. Between the two everything happens naturally, or at least, that's how I felt about them.

I mention that it was realistic, because although Anthony and Kate at the beginning seem very different, in reality they are more similar than they seem, they share many values, which in my opinion, in addition to tastes and interests, is something that also unites many couples in real life.

"- Sometimes," said Anthony in a hesitant voice, "sometimes our fears respond to reasons that we cannot explain."

- The Viscount Who Loved Me, Julia Quinn

I remember in the review of The Duke and I commented on these books, according to my sister's opinion, they are kind of fanfic. Since they are quick and easy to read, in addition to containing +18 situations. However, writing this review and after four books read in this saga, I realize that in reality and delving into the books, each book actually has its theme, each related to each Bridgerton brother.

So if you allow me, I'll tell you the one in this book and the one about The Duke and I.

I am sure, in the following reviews of the books of these saga, I will write the theme of each book as not to spoil them as much, as I think I already did.

Final Opinion

Anyway, Dreamers, I loved every moment of reading this book, I couldn't stop laughing at every awkward situation and reading the story of Kate and Anthony. Because despite being the cliché of enemies to lovers, the way Julia Quinn develops this story makes her feel natural.

Without a doubt, The Viscount Who Loved is one of my favorites from the Bridgerton saga. So Dreamers, feel free to read this book.
