Review
I have to admit that I wanted to read this book because of Colin Bridgerton, and how could I not do it when Colin seems the likeable and most attractive of the Bridgerton brothers? Or at least that is what they give us to understand in the books before this. And while I really enjoyed reading Colin and his part of his story, Penelope Featherington is the one who steals this whole book.
Penelope, who at first glance is only a secondary character in the previous books, now has her moment in Seducing Mr Bridgerton, and I have to admit that I loved meeting this character in a more personal way, if we can say it this way. Since she is actually a fun and friendly character.
Not to mention the chemistry between Penelope and Colin. I swear to you that every time the two of them were together I loved the dynamic that Julia Quinn handled in their dialogues. She makes them fluid, easy to follow, but they carry so much meaning and at the same time feeling, that I was excited, fangirling.
In my opinion, in this book we can see that knowing Penelope the real Colín, after years of idealizing him and having a crush on him, makes the magic that revolved around Colín diminish. Because at last we know Colín as a round character, he have dreams, fears, hopes, that he gets angry and cries.
"Isn't it great to discover that we are not exactly what we thought we were? "
- Lady Danbury, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, Julia Quinn
Also, Dreamers, in this book we finally discover who Lady Whistledown is! Which adds drama and mystery to this book.
Now Dreamers, I am going to comment on the theme that exists within this book, as well as what has been done in the previous reviews of the previous books in this saga.
Actually, specifically in this book, the topic carries a lot of weight, because in this book, this topic is much more visible than the previous books.
In fact, because of this theme, we can see more of the real Colin, a Colin who is not as perfect as the other books would have us believe. Rather, he is actually a complex being, he gets angry, cries, laughs, dreams. and he has his own monsters from him.
The Duke and I: Love, or, meet the right person to love and be loved.
The Viscount Who Loved: The fear / fears, or, the fear of our own nightmares or fears.
Romancing Mister Bridgerton: The dreams or goals that one wants to fulfill.
I am sure that the following books will have more diverse topics than the ones I have shown you, Dreamers. Or so I hope.
Final Opinión
I was finally delighted to meet Penelope Featherington and Colín Bridgerton as main characters, where we now see them as round characters, with dreams, fears and hopes. The chemistry between the two is incredible. I was hoping to see them interact with the fluid and simple dynamics that Julia Quinn maintains in her dialogues, full of meaning.
