Since the book began, I wanted to know where Jace was.
The end of the City of Fallen Angels definitely made me want to read this book immediately. That this book will begin with Simon's story, it definitely motivated me to keep reading.
City of Lost Souls was a book that kept my emotions on the surface. Although, from the beginning we know what is the main plot of this book, we do not know which is the second plot that this book has (by this, I mean Sebastian's plans), which adds mystery and suspense to this book . Adding, that Clary, lives with the enemy as a kind of spy, definitely kept me with the creeps. Not only that, that Alec, Simon, Magnus and Isabelle were exposed to high-risk situations, with dangers that no other shadowhunter has done before, definitely kept me in the leaves of this book.
In previous reviews of the books in this saga (Mortal Instruments) I mentioned that they are heavy readings, since each book contains a lot of information about what happens in the story. I have to change my mind with this book. Cassandra Clare, did a great job describing these scenes, not only adds more perspectives so we can read the full picture of the story. She gives more excitement to all these scenes, and by this I mean, that she goes deeper into each character, in relation to her emotions and her thoughts. And this is something I loved.
For this reason, we can read that the characters have matured, they are no longer the children that Cassandra presented to us in the first three books. They now know where they want to go, what they want to do in the future, and how they want to live their lives. This is reflected in Clary and Jace, who despite all that they lived with Valentine, continue to discover new facets of themselves, facets that they will decide if they want to keep or eliminate.
As I mentioned earlier, Cassandra gives us more insight into each character, and for this reason we get to know what each one's fears are in being in a relationship, especially Isabelle and Alec. Who fights their own internal battles to face these fears, and be able to be with those they love.
Although, it is a book in which we know the characters more. It is also a book that gives us more perspective on Sebastian's true plans, and, what is the plot of the last book of this saga.
If you want a fantasy book full of mystery and suspense, this is the right book, Dreamers.
