But nothing comes without a price.

Someone is murdering Shadowhunters, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second, bloody war. Clary’s best friend, Simon, can’t help her—his mother just found out that he’s a vampire, and now he’s homeless. When Jace begins to pull away from her without explaining why, Clary is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: she herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.

Review

⭐4.5/5

Author: Cassandra Clare

Serie: Shadowhunters; Mortal Instruments

Pages: 424

This books continues with the story of Clary, Jace, Simon e Isabelle, who are back again in New York after the battle with Valentine. Everything seems back to normal, except for the fact, that Clary is training to become a shadowhunter. There is more danger than this teemagers can imagine.

Some allies of Valentine, some shadowhunters, appear murdered in the streets of New York, and someone tries to kill Simon. The vampire is trying to fight his own demons. While, Jace and Clary, face together a new crisis in their relationship.

This book, written from the perspective of Simon, who we read a couple of time in last books. Even if Simon can walk under the sun, even if he can do what the other guys of his age do, like having a girlfriend or going out with friends, he feels more lonely than ever. Especially, because he poses Cains’ mark. But, not only that, Camille, the leader of New York vampire clan is back and he wants Simon as an allie.

Jace suffer from nightmares and in everyone, the knife of his father and Clary are involved. He needs to be be far away from her. But, Clary is closer than ever. Their relationship is official and he knows he can’t hide it for a long time.

"You could give me the past," he said sadly, "but Alec is my future."

What i want to say about this book is that i didn’t understood what was going on until the last one hundred pages. Yes, Valentine allies are dead, but, what does Simon and Clary has to do there? Yes, someone is trying to kill Simon, but, why? Many moments that develops in the story has no sense until the end of the book, when everything has sense to the characters and the reader.

Another point I like to say, is that, in this book we get to know how Simos feels about what is happening and what happened in the last books. And with that perspective, we get to know what happen in the world of underground creatures. Like the rules they follow, what happen when a new werewolf transform for the first time.

In this book we also meet new characters, that can have an important role in the next books. Also, the friendship relations forms in this book with the most unexpected characters.

And, ¡we have a new villain!More powerful and stronger than Valentine.

City of Fallen Angels is full of mystery and intrigue, and, even if it was confusing at the beginning, I liked how the story developed at the end. I really want to continue reading this serie of Cassandra Clare.

If you like magical creatures, Dreamers, you can’t miss this book.
