Review

⭐4/5

Author: Cassandra Clare

Saga: The Infernal Devices

Pages: 567

Jess and Tessa's wedding is getting closer, even if they don't have the approval of the Enclave, Tessa wants to take advantage of every moment she has with Jem. However, the distance Will takes since their engagement was announced hurts her, and he doesn't know how to act with respect to Will Herondale.

The good news is that Charlotte is still the director of the London institute. The bad news is that Mortmain is still missing.

However, Gabriel Lightwood's visit can change everything. Benedict Lightwood has literally changed into a demon as a result of his vices. Several notebooks written by his own hand and mind about madness, may have what it takes to find Mortmain or know what he is up to.

However, there is someone who wishes to see Charlotte outside the London institute and will do everything possible to achieve it.

Mortmain has several plans under his sleeve to get what he wants, even if that means sacrificing the lives of those around Tessa.

"What I know is that if we are born again, I will find you in that other life, and that if there is a river, you will wait for me on the shore to reach you, so that we can cross it together."

-Mechanical Princess, Cassandra Clare

I called this book a four out of five because it took me a whole month to read it. Personally, the beginning was heavy, because although it starts well, with emotion and joy, it soon becomes an action and secrets that can take them directly to Mortmain. But, after the first chapters everything disappears and becomes more in the daily life of these shadowhunters, with a lot of research and suspicions about Mourtmain, but there is no action. Until he kidnaps Tessa. And even then, the action takes time to arrive. All this, by an enemy disguised as a friend.

There is also the fact that more characters are involved in this prequel, so Cassandra begins to narrate from their perspective. At the same time, the author adds letters that are important for the development of the story.

Speaking of the author, I would love to tell you that without a doubt she greatly improved her writing in this book. Cassandra tells us more from the emotional perspective in a way that I really felt, especially in the last chapters. Where the characters had their emotions to the surface.

And being the last book in the saga, many of the riddles that were presented before finally have their answers and well, the answers left me surprised. I really do not expect them at all, but they certainly have basis, Although maybe I have been left with a couple of questions out there, maybe if I read the saga again I can answer it.

From this book I expected more, I was disappointed because I thought it was going to be more epic, however, this was not so, and the villains did not give as much uncertainty as in other sagas.

Clockwork Princess is a book that left me with my emotions from flower to skin, however it is a book that made me heavy for how long it took to get to the main plot of the story. However, I should applaud the author's improvement in her writing.

A beautiful ending for a saga.
