<<“I think I deserve something beautiful.” >>
- Eat, Pray, Love - Elizabeth Gilbert

Synopsis
A celebrated writer's irresistible, candid, and eloquent account of her pursuit of worldly pleasure, spiritual devotion, and what she really wanted out of life.
Around the time Elizabeth Gilbert turned thirty, she went through an early-onslaught midlife crisis. She had everything an educated, ambitious American woman was supposed to want—a husband, a house, a successful career. But instead of feeling happy and fulfilled, she was consumed with panic, grief, and confusion. She went through a divorce, a crushing depression, another failed love, and the eradication of everything she ever thought she was supposed to be.
To recover from all this, Gilbert took a radical step. In order to give herself the time and space to find out who she really was and what she really wanted, she got rid of her belongings, quit her job, and undertook a yearlong journey around the world—all alone. Eat, Pray, Love is the absorbing chronicle of that year. Her aim was to visit three places where she could examine one aspect of her own nature set against the backdrop of a culture that has traditionally done that one thing very well. In Rome, she studied the art of pleasure, learning to speak Italian and gaining the twenty-three happiest pounds of her life. India was for the art of devotion, and with the help of a native guru and a surprisingly wise cowboy from Texas, she embarked on four uninterrupted months of spiritual exploration. In Bali, she studied the art of balance between worldly enjoyment and divine transcendence. She became the pupil of an elderly medicine man and also fell in love the best way—unexpectedly.
An intensely articulate and moving memoir of self-discovery, Eat, Pray, Love is about what can happen when you claim responsibility for your own contentment and stop trying to live in imitation of society’s ideals. It is certain to touch anyone who has ever woken up to the unrelenting need for change.

- Eat, Pray, Love- Elizabeth Gilbert
This book is something I wouldn’t read on normal conditions. I mean, I usually read fantasy, sci-fi, young adult books, but, not life oriented books. I only read it because a teacher on college wanted us to read this book to look how the people of four different countries behave. But, I found something more.
On first instance, we have Liz Gilbert, a woman who feels broken, because she has the perfect life, the life she dream of, but, she doesn’t feels herself anymore. She is miserable in that life. The thought of what is next to achieve on her dream makes her feel sick. A woman who is strong, because she quit everything she loved to pursue her own happiness, to found herself again. She is reckless, hard with herself, humble, and a good student.
So, in order to rediscover herself she embarks in this journey with three main goals.
Learn Italian
Find God
Find a balance in her life.
Through the pages of this book we read the thoughts of Liz. Thoughts that are vast, difficult and tangled, I mean, she thinks very deeply on what is going on. Not only what is happening, but, what does that mean for her. And, there are does tiny things that can be useless for many, but for her, it means everything. Also, we can read about her past, her family, her relationship with David, with her friends, and so on. And that intrigued mind Liz has, let me think about many things in life.
Also, we read about those countries Elizabeth visited. Italy with their beautiful architecture and history through the ages, with Italians been extroverts and easy going. We read about those temples on India, where the guru is the headmaster, and self-discipline is require. And the meditation the people who visited those temples do. And, learn about Indonesia with his traditional medicine methods that seems more effective than modern medicine.
Eat, Pray, Love is a book so deep that will make you think more about your own life and what you really want. And, I’m sure, Dreamers that I want to tell you more about this book, but, I don’t find the words, and I don’t want to give you spoilers.
