Tessa let her life back in New York, justo for going to London to reunite with his brother, who haven’t seen in more than a year. But, her brother never show up in the port. The Dark Sister do. Both torture and force Tessa to use her power (one that she didn’t knew she had), always threaten with killing his brother.
Will is searching information about Pandemonium Club. His clues take him to the Dark House, where he meets Tessa. Something big is happening in London, the underground, the ones who do not want to follow the trades. And Tessa, seems to be part of the Magisters’ plan against shadowhunters.
This book is ubicated before the Valentines’ plan, in the main saga of shadowhunters universe. Is is set in the year 1878, for that reason, the way characters talk, act and dress are so correct, just as Queen Victoria ruled England. I like the way the author makes XIX century part of the characters, all the ideas, the taboos of that era are plasm on the characters really well. For example, Tessa got amazed by how Charlotte dress like a men when she was in combat, or just the fact that the goes to fight against underworld creatures.
At the same time, the story being set in London, made some shadowhunter slag chande, and Cassandra explain it trying to not confuse her readers, Which gives a lot of help, even if the slang didn’t change a lot.
Nevertheless, even if the story is different from the one in Mortal Instruments saga, I couldn’t stop thinking that they were a lot of similarities. Not only for the fact that it was located in the same Shadowhunter world. It was the main characters. For example, Will is a really closed character, he don’t like to share his thought to anyone else. He also seem to be a womanizer, o it is the way the let people think about him. He hides his real personality with sarcastic words, he hurts people if he think that is going to kept them safe. And he can be a total jerk if he wants to. What lead to think about Jace. Unable to open his heart to others, always alone, but keeping safe the ones he loves.
But not only Jace and Will, aldo Tessa and Clary. Both enter shadowhunter world without wanting. Both does not have any idea of that dangers that surround them, they do not know absolutely nothing about the world they crash in, even then, they manage to save the ones who cares the most. For Tessa his brother, for Clary his mother. Even, if Tessa is more clever than Clary. Both like to read and both possess a power that made the special.
All this similarities kept surrounding my mind while I was reading, that’s why I put a four over a five to this book. I think, that, if this happens before the main saga, characters must be different, not only in the external way, also in their personalities and they contribute to the story.

<< Tessa could not remember not having loved the mechanical angel >>
- Clockwork Angel, Cassandra Clare
Now, in this book, in comparison with the main saga, it has a real love triangle. Tessa, Will and Jem, are the ones involved here. Will, as I said before, is cold and insensitive, but handsome, with more secrets that he can’t tell. Jem, on the other side, is a gentlemen, quite, intelligent, comprehensive and patience, with a mysterious sickness that make him desirable. Both are always helping Tessa, both think that Tessa is beautiful.
On the other side, we meet new characters, Charlotte and Henry a married couple who are in charge of London institute. Henry is distracted, nice and alway with his mind on the clouds, thinking about machines and what they can do to help shadowhunters. On the contrary, CHarlotte, is a woman with her feet on the ground, fighting to win a place as a shadowhunter. Without any doubt, the pillar that maintain shadowhunters together. We also have Jessie, a girl who doesn’t like to be a shadowhunter, always dreaming with a world without danger.
Clockwork Angel is the first book of a trilogy, so we meet a new villain. The Magister. This book is actually the research of him, what are his plans, and, of course, try to stop him. The Magister, is a powerful enemy, with many allies between underground and he possess the media to conquer his objectives.
Clockwork Angel is a book full of mystery, darkness and innocence. A book that make XIX century part of the characters. The way they must follow to get the Magister is full of rocks, of speculation and few clues. Just one thing is sure, the monsters inside the character are more powerful that the ones outside them
If you like books full of mystery and set in past centuries, this is definitely your book Dreamers.
