Review

⭐ 5/5

Author: Marissa Meyer

Serie: Lunar Chronicles: Book one

Marissa Meyer tell us the story of Scarlet, a girl who is looking for her missing grandmother. Everyone in the little town where she lives thinks her grandmother is crazy, that she go to another place by herself, but Scarlet doesn’t believe it. She knows her grandmother. When a handsome stranger says he can help her, after a mysterious visit of her father, she doesn’t know if she can trust him.

At the same time, the author tell us what happen to Cinder after she was imprisoned at the ball, with a dress full of oil and about to find out, she is princess Selene! She is the most dangerous and look for fugitive! What problem she is into!

Besides the fact I read a couple of reviews before reading the book, that doesn’t talked to good about it. I like it! Marissa tell us two different stories that doesn’t have any connection… until the end. I love this kind of books, where everything has a connections, even if it is not obvious!

Scarlet is an intelligent girl, she is brave and daring, rebel until some point, she doesn’t handles when people judge before meeting someone. She was raised by her grandmother, and she loves her, a lot! That's why her lessons are shown through the book. But, she has her weak points, that play an important role in this book. Wolf, on the other side, is quite, timid, with an intelligence in battles and strategy. He survives, because he must survive. With a dark past, the only thing he thinks he can do is punch and hit. A ver strange couple.

In fact, I think this couple was very superficial, in comparison with Kai and Cinder. Who came to like each other despite the circumstances. Even, if Scarlet and Wolf share some intimate memories, there was a lot of mistrust between each other, specially, because Wolf didn’t like to share his thoughts with Scarlet, and he was a fighter, and Scarlet didn’t like it.

<< Eight years. In a tank, sleeping, dreaming and growing. >>

-Scarlet, Marissa Meyer

At the beginning of the book, I thought it was really strange that Wolf have his instincts more developed than any human or lunar, like a real wolf. Specially, because in this book everything has a scientific explanation. I thought that was some kind of omegaverse or maybe magic, but, as always, Marissa gave us an explanation that I like it, a lot. I mean, it has a lot of sense. ¡Everything is related with the rumors! Rumors we can read on Cinder.

I love the way Marissa connect both stories. At some point, I began to think that both would never meet. But, very drastic change the author gave to the story! I was really excited, I think I almost shout for a moment. I change my mind about the characters.

I began to love this serie. Maybe there’s many action like Cinder, there is a lot of mystery. Especially, with the past of Wolf, and the grandmother of Scarlet, who seems to have more secrets that her own grandchild thought. The mystery, ad read how Cinder and Scarlet would react maintain me reading.

Hope, Dreamers you can read this saga,
