<< Not all powers are spectacular. Sometimes the hardest power to master is the ability to give in. >>

-Rick Riordan, The Last Olympian

Synopsis

All year the half-bloods have been preparing for battle against the Titans, knowing the odds of victory are grim. Kronos's army is stronger than ever, and with every god and half-blood he recruits, the evil Titan's power only grows. While the Olympians struggle to contain the rampaging monster Typhon, Kronos begins his advance on New York City, where Mount Olympus stands virtually unguarded. Now it's up to Percy Jackson and an army of young demigods to stop the Lord of Time.

Review

⭐5/5

Author: Rick Riordan

Serie: Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Pages: 381

This last book of the saga, tells the final battle of Percy, who is the son of Poseidon, one of the three great. And being the only one (of the children of the big three) that is approaching sixteen, an age that can mean that Olympus falls or wins by a decision that he must take. The lives of thousands of mortals and demigods are in the hands of Percy.

But, not everything is easy. There are fewer and fewer demigods in Camp Half-Blood, and more monsters in the enemy camp. Ares's cabin refuses to fight in the battle for a booty of a mission against Apollo's hut and there is a spy in the camp. Besides, Kronos seems to get stronger with every second that passes in the body of Luke, son of Hermes.

Throughout the saga we have seen how Percy develops from a troubled child to a powerful teenager skilled in the art of war. We've seen him overcome every challenge he gets into, fight against the worst monsters in Greek mythology and make unwise decisions. So this book definitely won a special place in my heart (especially because it's the third time I read it).

<< Of the oldest gods, a demigod will reach sixteen against everything predicted,

And in a never ending dream the world will see,

The soul of the hero, a damn leaf will reap.

A single decision with our days will end.

Olympus will preserve or ravage. >>

-Rick Riordan, The Last Olympian

There were several parts in the book that I really could not stop reading. The uncertainty of what could happen, especially because the campers were at a clear disadvantage, kept me reading. At the same time, Percy, comes to know more about Luke's past, the reason for the decisions he made to put himself at the service of the titan of time and why other demigods help him.

Through the book, Percy makes decisions that are very risky, he does everything possible for the gods to help him, he does the impossible so that they win the battle. Percy matures a lot in this book, opens his eyes to what he could not see and guides his allies - not so allies - to see the truth.

Throughout the book, they give us clues about what the great prophecy might mean, small details and clues that one passes with high, until in the end, when Percy narrates what happened in the week (yes, Dreamers, this book it happens in a week or less) everything makes sense. It is impressive all the details that Uncle Rick gave to this book and the saga in general.

This book has action, mystery comedy and even romance. Percy, becomes a leader for the camp, improvises with everything, helps as much as he can and tries to avoid in Kronos reach Olympus. Although, more than once this seems impossible. But, he has more allies than he seems. There are plans that he did not even know and that help him, but above all, he has his friends nearby, which makes Percy fight like never before.

I hope Dreamers, who read this book, that has earned a piece of my heart.
