Synopsis

Ox was twelve when his daddy taught him a very valuable lesson. He said that Ox wasn’t worth anything and people would never understand him. Then he left.

Ox was sixteen when he met the boy on the road, the boy who talked and talked and talked. Ox found out later the boy hadn’t spoken in almost two years before that day, and that the boy belonged to a family who had moved into the house at the end of the lane.

Ox was seventeen when he found out the boy’s secret, and it painted the world around him in colors of red and orange and violet, of Alpha and Beta and Omega.

Ox was twenty-three when murder came to town and tore a hole in his head and heart. The boy chased after the monster with revenge in his blood red eyes, leaving Ox behind to pick up the pieces.

It’s been three years since that fateful day—and the boy is back. Except now he’s a man, and Ox can no longer ignore the song that howls between them.

<< Sometimes we don't want to leave, even when we feel it is our duty. >>

-Wolfsong, T.J. Klune

Review

Wolfsong tells us the story of Ox, who his father always told him that people were going to try to make his life shit. He is tall, robust and according to him slow. So one day after work he meets a little tornado, who tells him that he smells like caramel candy, epic and awesome. And he knows that his life is about to change forever.

History

From the beginning this book surprised me, the atmosphere since I started reading it is dark and melancholic, since everything I see from Ox's perspective, but I will tell you about him later. Which ultimately I was not expecting.

The way T.J. Klune tells this story that captures you from the first moment, because he does it in the past, as if he were telling the story, which makes you expect that something will happen, and you do not know if it will be good or bad. that mystery abounds between the pages of the book, immersing you more and more in history and in the world that the author has created.

And while there isn't much action between its pages, you want to know more about the characters and creatures than T.J. Klune has created, and he is gradually explaining this world to you as Ox enters in.. It is really very subtle, and as a reader you are fascinated by the way Ox makes you see this new world full of magic, although sometimes it frustrates you.

I can't say that there were several twists in the plot that surprised me, because it really wasn't. The synopsis of this book tells you most of the story, but of course there were moments that surprised me and somehow were pleasant while reading.

<< A wolf is only as strong as its lasso. >>

Characters

Although there are many characters who participate in this story, and who are fundamental and have, in some way, weight in how this book is developed. I'm going to tell you about just two, Ox and Joe.

Ox, he is a naive character, who got me desperate while I read the story. But, he is also a character who has very deep feelings, and takes time to process them, to understand them. One point, that takes you much deeper into this story, and what makes you become attached to the characters.

And Joe, who is a boy at the beginning of this book. Both him and Ox, we will see them grow and become men. Joe, unlike Ox, is energetic, but loving and affectionate. A small tornado. Unlike many characters, he is not impulsive, he reflects on his actions and thinks before doing them.

We grow fond of the characters throughout the story, as we see them grow and develop, and go through difficult times. The way T.J. Klune tells the story along with Ox's perspective, makes you fond of them.

The end.

In short, I did not expect several of the events of the book, others yes (the review) because we come to know by how the events in the book happen. A very nice ending that left me being a mega fangirl.

Final Opinion.

In short, I loved this book, I became very fond of the characters and I was a mega fangirl. There were several times when I thought I would cry over the amount of emotions T.J. Klune handles in the book, there were also times when I was frustrated with the characters for their actions. It is fast and very easy to read. Ox's thoughts are not complicated and too deep like other authors, instead, they are simple and easy to understand. The way in which the author narrates them makes them deep.

A book full of magic and mystery in its pages, the further you go into the readings the more you immerse yourself in this fantastic world.
